AI the Right Way:
Strategic Planning for Transformative Learning in K12 Schools

OVERVIEW 

This five-day immersion program is designed to address the critical questions faced by school leaders in the integration of AI technologies and Computational Thinking practices in K-12 schools. This class is intended for leaders and educators who strive to systematically integrate new technologies and ideas into formal and informal learning spaces. 

A structured approach is presented for the development and execution of  tangible implementation plans, drawing on international best practices and case studies. Topics include organizational leadership, stakeholder communication, teacher professional development, technology selection, ethics, curriculum development, and implementation strategies.

This course will provide tools to increase participant’s capacity to define and lead innovation processes and to formulate, advocate for and execute nuanced plans to affect transformative school change, particularly using AI and Computational Thinking.

Over the course of the program, each participant will develop an organizationally-specific and actionable plan to implement at their institution with the help of mentorship and coaching from program instructors.

STEM Teaching for the 21st Century: From Learning Targets to Curricular Units

Overview:
This workshop will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of curriculum development and integration within makerspaces and educational fab labs. Using the FabLearn approach to maker education, the course deeply integrates theory and practice, addressing inquiry-driven, project-based learning in makerspaces and digital fabrication settings, as well as issues such as assessment and integration into broader school goals.

Over the course of the week, participants will develop a curriculum unit ready to implement in their school settings.

Who Should Attend: This class is designed for educational leaders who strive to systematically integrate the principles of constructionism into formal and informal learning spaces. It is specifically designed for educators, policy makers, directors of computational literacy, maker, or AI initiatives, and educational administrators who are charged with planning and implementation of innovative education programs within their organizations, districts or states regardless of size or country; and with responsibility for strategic planning, development, curriculum design and support training for project-based learning environments.
